Father's Day Astrophotography Gift guide

It’s that time of the year where every father gets recognized. I seriously hope my kids pay attention! Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift for your father, or for yourself, I’ve tried to group some items into a few categories below that are useful.

For the beginning astrophotographer:

These first two items are great to pair with an existing DSLR for awesome wide field nebula or MilkyWay shots.

If you want to get into astrophotography or astronomy but without all the hassle of learning software and equipment, the Unistellar and NexStar systems are a great path to get going. I started out with a NexStar 6SE myself.

For the more advanced astrophotographer:

We have a few telescopes and advanced accessories that are worth your time. In fact the 6” RC was one of my first long focal length telescopes. Many of the images in my gallery were shot with this scope. In addition the Sky Watcher EQ6-R Pro mount is one of the best all around mounts you can get. With ZWO’s ASI071MC Pro color camera, you can expect low noise, high quality images with it’s larger APSc sized sensor. I’ve used this camera personally to take many images on my site. And last, but not least, the Radian Triad filter pairs very well with the color cameras if you want to get some incredible narrowband images from light polluted skies.
