ZWO's ASIAir comes to the Mac

The iOS only ASIAIr application has been converted to an M1 native Mac app

If you are like me, and don’t want to leave an expensive Mac laptop outside in the humidity overnight, then the AIR is a great option. It’s nice to use it with an iPhone or iPad, but what about us laptop users? For some time, as part of Apple’s strategy to unify it’s hardware using M1 chips, it’s also seeking platform unification for Apps, making it easy to port iOS apps to the Mac. But this has been a developer enabled feature, which ZWO has now finally enabled for the ASIAir app to run on Macs.

Unfortunately it will only run on M1 native Macs, and not the older Intel based Macs. I installed the application on my Mac Studio and it ran perfectly.

In addition to all the basics you get with an application like this, ZWO has provided some specific application preferences.

Choose iPhone or iPad sized display.

Enable keyboard and mouse inputs for the application.

Add the ability for it to use the location services of your computer to identify your GPS coordinates.

I’m really impressed with the functionality. They could have kept the interface very bare bones, so I’m glad they enabled some additional features through the preferences of the application.
